Row Crops: Mint

Verticillium Wilt

Verticillium Wilt, caused by the fungus Verticillium dahliae, is a very serious disease of mint. There are several strains of Verticillium dahliae, and different strains affect different crops in different degrees. Certain asymptomatic hosts of this pathogen, like strawberries, may allow modest reproduction of the fungus. But the aggressive strains that infect mint and cause wilting and plant death reproduce at very high levels.

Symptoms of Verticillium Wilt

Sometimes the onset of Verticillium Wilt is so rapid that the symptoms cannot be observed. Positive Identification can only be made in a laboratory.

Management
